Dr. Jennifer Bowers O.D.
Dr. Jennifer Bowers joined First Colonial Eye Center in February, 2007. Dr. Bowers received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Ohio State University where she was a proud member of the Helix Honorary Society. She received in 1992 her Doctorate of Optometry degree at the Illinois College of Optometry. During her time in Optometry school she received awards of Distinction in Pediatrics, Low Vision, Ocular Disease, and Clinical Performance. Dr. Bowers completed an externship and postdoctoral Residency in Ocular Disease at the Cleveland Wade Park Veterans Administration Center.
Dr. Bowers is a Fellow in the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the Tidewater, the State of Virginia, and the American Optometric Associations. She served many years as a consultant at The Cleveland Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Dr. Bowers' interest in becoming an eye doctor started as a child with her own need for spectacles at an early age. "I am thankful for the opportunities I have had to help patients preserve their sight by early detection and treatment of eye diseases. I feel fortunate to be involved in providing primary and postoperative care to patients as well as addressing their visual needs."
Dr. Bowers currently resides in the Great Neck area with her husband Derek, a mechanical engineer, their children Savannah and Gabriel, and dog, Brandy. She volunteers at Trantwood Elementary, is active in their local church and Girl Scouts, and is an assistant RUSH soccer coach. Dr. Bowers is also a personal fitness trainer and interests include scuba diving, horseback riding, gardening, gourmet cooking, camping and the outdoors.
